During May 9th when clash broke out between two hindu caste communities and two FIRs were registered against 12 persons and over 300 unnamed people in connection with two incidents of violence in uttar Pradesh.

SSP Love Kumar said an FIR was registered against over 300 people in connection with the stone-pelting by members of two communities during a rally to mark Ambedkar Jayanti at Sadak Dudhali village. The charges include IPC section 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) among others.

The second FIR has been registered in connection with the protest outside the Senior Superintendent of Police’s residence in which a CCTV camera was damaged and his “nameplate removed”, he said, adding the FIR was registered with charges similar to the first one.

But again on 23rd May again violence broke out in fresh clashes between members of the Thakur community and Dalits at Chandrapur, Shabbirpur and Badagon villages of the communally sensitive Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, officials said.

According to reports, unidentified miscreants from thakur community , who were hiding in a roadside mango orchard, attacked Dalits with lathis and sharp weapons at two different places near Chandpura village.

In another attack near the same village, a Dalit was shot from close range and he succumbed to injuries during treatment at the district hospital.

Saharanpur district magistrate NP Singh confirmed the death and injuries. He said a massive search operation has been launched to identify and arrest the assailants. Chief minister Adityanath reviewed the situation at a meeting with principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar and director general of police Sulkhan Singh.and then directed the additional director general of police (law and order) Aditya Mishra and inspector genral (Special Task Force) Amitabh Yash to rush to the spot and assist local police in maintaining law and order.

Both the officers will camp in Saharanpur till the situation becomes normal. Lately reports indicated state police imposed 144 to control spread of caste violence in Saharanpur.
