Tributes and wishes for Karunanidhi's speedy recovery have poured in since he began receiving treatment at home this week for fever caused by a urinary tract infection.

Karunanidhi, the leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, continues to receive intensive care at Chennai's Kauvery hospital, where he was taken this morning after his blood pressure dropped.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit dropped by to check in on the veteran. The hospital's executive director briefed him about the DMK supremo's health , Governor Purohit spend around 10 minutes at the hospital.

Earlier Karunanidhi was taken to the Kauvery hospital from his Gopalapuram home early this morning. A medical bulletin said his blood pressure stabilised after treatment.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who represents the rival AIADMK party, said Karunanidhi was receiving the "best" treatment. "He will recover soon," Palaniswami said.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who travelled to Chennai, said Karunanidhi health was improving, and that he was being treated by the best doctors in India.

Defense Minster Nirmala visited along with Taminnadu bjp party colleague and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu is expected to call on Karunanidhi today. Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind wished him a speedy recovery.

TTV Dhinakaran, a former top AIADMK official who has launched his own party, said he visited the hospital. "I met Stalin [Karunanidhi's son] and he said Karunanidhi is recovering. They are all hopeful and he wall come back as Mr. Kalaignar [scholar of arts]," he said.
