Pranav, the supermarket employee, noticed that a police constable in the store was picking up items off the rack and shoving them in her pocket while she was on the phone. He then asked the policewoman to return the stolen goods and even asked her to write an apology note.

The incident, however, did not end there. In a shocking turn of events, the policewoman's husband, along with a few others, stormed into the store and attacked the supermarket employee who tried to resist the shoplifting.

Pranav was rescued and taken to the hospital to treat his injuries.

The incident has caused much embarrassment to the Chennai police. The incident is being looked into, police said.
