Gujarat police has begun the procedure to book the constable for attacking Indian cricket team player Ravindra Jadeja’s wife.

Rivaba Jadeja, wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, was allegedly attacked by a policeman in Jamnagar following their vehicles’ collision on Monday evening.

Gujarat police has begun the procedure to book the constable for assault. "According to reports, Rivaba’s car collided with the bike of constable Sanjay Ahir. After both vehicles stopped, Ahir allegedly attacked Rivaba when she stepped out of the car. She has received some injuries", Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sejul was quoted as saying.

The officer added, "The department has begun the procedure to register an FIR. As assaulting a woman is a serious crime, Ahir is likely to face departmental inquiry and suspension".

The police said a child and its mother were in the car when the accident occurred. India spinner Jadeja is currently with the Chennai Super Kings team, preparing for their Indian Premier League Qualifier 1 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, to be held in Mumbai on Tuesday. Jadeja got married to Rivaba on April 17, 2016.
