Yesterday after 10 PM, Income Tax sleuths searched former chief minister, Misappropriate asset case Supreme Court convicted J Jayalalithaa Poes Garden residence of in what is believed to be part of a crackdown on jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala and her family members.

More than ten IT officials were at Veda Nilayam, which Sasikala once shared with the late AIADMK leader.

The operation follows interrogation of Jayalalithaa’s secretary Poodongran and Vivek Jayaraman over the past few days. Poongundran’s house was also raided earlier and he was summoned for questioning two times by the IT department.

IT Sources said the sleuths were looking for a laptop and a desktop computer and four pen drives that were believed to have been used by Sasikala.

Later after officials left Poyes garden Vivek ( Sasikala cousin) CEO of Jayatv and Jazz Cinemas told media IT officials took two Pen drives and one laptop and four bundles of letters that came for Jayalalithaa during her life time.

The raid came barely a few days after Income Tax department using army of 1800 officials and carried out Five -day search at more than 180 residential and business premises linked to Sasikala and her family members, known as the ‘Managurdi mafia’ in reference to her ancestral town.
