Five IT officials, who came in a tourist vehicle have been conducting searches from 9 AM. Siddhartha, a businessman, is the founder-owner of the Cafe Coffee Day chain of outlets.

The IT officials conducted raids at several premises of VG Siddhartha who is son-in-law of veteran BJP leader and former Karnataka chief minister, SM Krishnaas on thursday and they searched his properties in Karnataka, including the Cafe Coffee Day chain that he owns.

According to some reports the Income Tax officers searched as many as 20 locations in Bengalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Chickmagalur.

Quoting sources, news agency IANS reported that the properties belonged to V G Siddhartha, such as CCD, way2wealth, Serai Estates, Global Village etc. Multiple teams are involved in the raid.

IT officials have also raided the Amalgamated Beans Coffee (ABC) curing works owned by Siddhartha, located along the Hassan-Belur highway near Hassan.

The raids have taken place after few months after Krishna left Congress to join the BJP amidst much fanfare. It is to be noted that Krisha was also the foreign minister in the UPA government under Manmohan Singh.
