At the auction house Alexander Historical Auctions., officials of the auction house said the phone was a "weapon of mass destruction”, and this bid product Red colour telephone was used by Hitler to give orders that took many lives during World war II.

The bidding in Chesapeake City, Maryland, USA started with $100,000. But has been sold for $243,000 ( Rs 1,62,67,000 ). The identity of the buyer, who bid by phone, has not been revealed. The red phone, which has the Nazi leader's name engraved on it, was found in his Berlin bunker in 1945.

Also during the auction porcelain figure of an Alsatian dog, also owned by Hitler, fetched $24,300. It was bought by a different bidder.
